0:31 The loco is a ChME3 loco, number 4177. She hauled two Hard Class Couchette coaches, which had coal fires, whilst the group was riding on Soviet 5' 0" broad gauge both inside Hungary and here, in the Ukraine. This duty she shared with a Hungarian M62 number 628 518 which is also broad gauge.

The location, as I tried to explain to you, is named Yon (in Cyrillic) and Chop in English. It is not Tchop. The T on the sign, is a "/" (forward slash) in English. So Yon T Chop is actually Yon / Chop.

I know this video is just a couple weeks old(!) but I'm using it to help fill in details on three HOdcale model RR bridges I'm working on. This vantage point is invaluable to a modeler - most of the time we can never get to these places in the track! Your camera work was excellent (some fools wave their camera around like it was a flag!) and well-composed. I enjoyed the natural sounds of steel wheel on steel rail. Even the background talking was not distracting. You've earned my sub, and my deep appreciation for helping me achieve a much higher level of modeling accuracy I would otherwise have missed. Thank you for that! Now I have to catch up on some of your other excellent bridge videos. Ghost of the SP

Because nowaday's train is so long, a regular 1000hp switcher or the good ol' 1800hp Geeps were absolutely hard working. So, in order to not damaging more of the lower hp engines, use the well-proven SD40-2 as temporary switching engine :v

I remember having 5 of these in our consists (Burlington Northern) and cutting off from our train and then walking from the last to the lead unit while under full dead stop acceleration.....and the need to lean way forward while negotiating the walkways. It was exciting stuff. Just glad I never had a turbo go "poof" while I was doing that!!!!!

I wonder why french locomotives (because this is a french locomotive bought by Spain), have such a loud and acute whistle... I heard the same whistle on a bigger steam locomotive that was pulling a double headed train, together with a swiss locomotive with an american style whistle, on a touristic ride on the boundary between Switzerland and Italy

Their simplicity, reliability, and reasonable fuel-efficiency as well as their raw power makes them still a worth of use by railroads. Yes, it didn't have those 80k lbf of tractive effort and 4500hp but this guys pulls the load with style and still be reliable. In Indonesia, we only had the SD38-2 export varian, the G26 (G26MC-2U for our 3ft 6in or 1067mm gauge) which has 2250hp on engine and 2000hp on generator-alternator (it's AC-DC system like SD40 as well). There is a fact that 3 GE CM20EMP which puts out the same 2250hp as our good old G26MC-2U from a new 7FDL-8 and more modern in terms of technology are no match for pulling 60 wagons full of coal. Instead, it also needs 3 of our good old G26MC-2U could pull it easily and even just need 2 of our newer GT38ACe with its 2000hp (on alternator) 8-710G3B. EMD is an amazing puller for freight, really is.
